South Carolina S3DA Hosts Indoor State Championship

South Carolina S3DA held their Indoor State Championship at the Barr Road Sports Complex in Lexington, South Carolina. Over 300 plus were in attendance with 124 archers from sixteen teams competing in the event. The setup for the Indoor State Championship featured twenty-two lanes after the purchase of Walk-On Archery targets. The large gymnasium was maxed out across three flights and twenty-three individuals were crowned South Carolina S3DA Indoor State Champions in their respective class and division. Point-On Archery was awarded the Indoor Team Award. There were many displays of sportsmanship and fellowship!

South Carolina State Coordinator, Sheila Tadlock stated, “We had five new S3DA teams this year with Hillside Crusaders joining us just in time to qualify for the state shoot. We specifically added the Universal Novice Compound Class for South Carolina archers that have only competed with a Genesis bow. This class opens entry into more traditional styles of archery and allows participants the opportunity to get up close with the four different equipment choices that the S3DA program offers. I am so proud of these archers and their accomplishments this season. Our archers from across South Carolina that had participated in the annual “Shooting Arrows for a Cure” Fundraiser for St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital raised $715 to help kids with cancer and that just makes my heart so happy.”

Lisa Suttle, Sherwood Forest Archery Coach said, “This event was a great experience for my team. We had a fun time competing with all the other teams. We got the chance to learn from others, while making new friends across the archery community.”

David, with Fine Designs, was on-site and offered custom apparel to archers and their families. Archers had the opportunity to get “Champion”, “2nd place”, or “3rd place” added on their t-shirts or hoodies at the conclusion of the event.

South Carolina Conservation Coordinator, Patty Reel said, “The goal of the South Carolina S3DA Conservation booth is to teach our archers that they can support conservation through bowhunting and learn how to help in their communities. We gave away two Rough Ryder knives, one for a boy and one for a girl. We plan to give away a piece of hunting equipment at every South Carolina State Tournament.”
