Cody has been happily married to his wife Rachel since 2013. Together, they have three beautiful daughters and one son. The family lives on the family farm where Cody grew up, and he enjoys raising chickens, riding horses, and spending time outdoors. In fact, the fall 2025 season has been extremely productive for the Kirby family, as his two oldest girls harvested their first whitetail deer, and Cody was blessed with another successful season as well.
Cody’s path in archery began as a senior in high school, when he joined his school’s archery team, where he competed for one season. After that, archery became his competitive outlet as he began shooting on the ASA and IBO circuit and working his way through the amateur divisions. Although him and his brother have always been close, archery was the first competitive arena where they truly connected. Now they are travel partners! While Cody and his brother both attended the University of the Cumberlands, they were fortunate enough to help establish the Patriot archery program, which has since won multiple collegiate national championships. After graduation, his coaching career began with a short stint as an assistant coach at UC, followed by his appointment as Head Coach at Union College in 2015. Cody said the athletes he was blessed to coach were extremely dedicated and successful, culminating in two Collegiate Team National Championships, multiple individual national champions, and even an athlete qualifying to represent the United States at the 2019 World University Games.
Cody manages the day-to-day operational and systematic functions of the S3DA program to ensure effectiveness and efficiency. The S3DA National Office Staff reports directly to Cody, who reports to the S3DA Board of Directors. As the Executive Director, Cody is responsible for various tasks, which include, but are not limited to reports, budgets, sponsoring and partnering organizations, and tournament/event coordination.
