Melissa Carter

Melissa was first introduced to archery in 2005 when the owner of a local archery shop, who was coaching her 2 sons, encouraged her to give it a try.  From there, she fell in love with archery and participated in her first 3D event, an R-100, during Mother’s Day weekend 2005.  What began as something their family could do together soon became a passion.  Melissa began competing in ASA events and won her way through multiple amateur classes including the Women’s Hunter and Women’s Known 40 divisions.  Along the way, she captured several ASA Pro-Am wins and podium finishes as well as a National Shooter of the Year title.  She has also competed in NFAA Indoor Nationals and the Lancaster Archery classic multiple times.  Her time with S3DA began in 2017 when her family was approached to help start an S3DA team at a local archery club.  In 2018, her husband, Robert and oldest son, Brendan co-founded Crossroads Archery S3DA where Melissa served as a team manager and administrator.  She and her husband served as East TN Regional Coordinators from 2018 until 2020 when Robert was appointed the Tennessee S3DA State Coordinator.  Since that time, she has worked behind the scenes providing administrative support for TN S3DA and volunteered at numerous S3DA national events. Melissa’s love for the sport of archery is a driving force in her commitment to S3DA and youth archery.
