Tom began his archery journey as a young man shooting competitively in NFAA and IBO organizations. After his children took an interest in archery, in 2004, he began his coaching career as a Trigg County Special Techniques Coach. Trigg County was one of the five pilot schools which began the NASP program. In 2010, he became the Trigg County NASP Head Coach of a team that has been the most successful team in the NASP organization to date. In addition to the team’s successes, he personally was honored to be awarded the 2016 National Coach of the Year and the 2016 KHSAA State Coach of the Year and was later honored to join the NASP and KHSAA Advisory Committee. He was also nominated for the Epcot Award. In 2015, Tom was fortunate to be one of the original members at the foundation of the S3DA program, beginning as a Region 1 Coordinator and an S3DA Coach of the Western Kentucky Bowhunters archery team. From there, he earned his USCA College Coach Certification and became the Head Coach for the Murray State University archery program, Level 3 Certification, and Training Certifications allowing him to train other coaches. In 2021, he was honored to join S3DA as a Board Member. Tom is an avid bowhunter and enjoys encouraging and assisting archers of all ages.
